  Well, my wife married a non-believer, ME. As expected, all of her JW family refused to attend our wedding.

  What's happened since then, you may ask?

  Since someone in this site may know me I will proceed with caution and spare the details. Suffice to say there's plenty of cheating, divorce, no university studies, low paying jobs among my wife's JW's nephews and nieces. I can only think of two success stories: in the first story both husband and wife are nominal JW's; and in the second story the husband is an elder and a total asshole, but no cheating and no divorce there. She looks miserable though

  Meanwhile me and my wife live happy lives, have zero debt, two houses, a fat retirement, have done a good share of traveling and plan to do plenty more until death. Also, both my children are on their way to graduating from a four year university. Funny, but pretty much everyone in my wife's large family praises my children for their exemplary conduct and achievements and I know deep inside they wish their kids were just like ours.

  NWT - revised 1984 vs revised 2013 versions

  in the latest 2013 revision the footnote of john chapter 8 states; a number of ancient and authoritative manuscripts omit vs 53 (of chapter 7) to chapter 8, vs. 11.. yet the 1984 revision quotes a similar footnote, however the passage of scripture is included in the text, albeit separately at the bottom.

  this passage of scripture is about the scribes and the pharisees who brought a woman that was accused of adultery before jesus to test him on the punishment to be meted out.

  then came his famous reply; let the one of you that is sinless be the first to throw a stone at her.. i just found it interesting that the wtbts would leave this out in the latest revision.

  The WT got it right.

  Besides, it is one of the nicest sounding parts of the bible, but it's only make-you-feel-good-BS. If we were to use Jesus' standard for prosecuting someone, it would be impossible to prosecute the worst criminals, let alone an adulterous woman. Also, it is quite inconsistent for Jesus to claim to uphold the law in some parts of the New Testament, but break it so he can be praised for his ridiculous solutions to conflict, such as "turn the other cheek". Pleeeeeeease!

  Study with an Elder - propose a question.

  hello there.. as some of you might remember i am keeping my facade up by "studying" with an elder.

  this study however is more of a session where i put hard questions about the org, doctrine and so on, on the table.

  the time has come for the next session in a couple of days, and i have quite frankly lost the will to keep digging up things that just shouldn't be happening.

  Watchtower study today - best practice in word

  due to family reasons gorby was present today.. the watchtower study was about refugee's.. how to treat refugee's, jw and non believers, and help them spiritual, not financial.

  nothing new.. what i mentioned is the juridical message underneath the whole story.

  don't talk politics, listen to government regulations etc.. most bizar is that a whole congregation that normaly avoid giving any aid to people in need, this morning gave the best practice in word about what to do with refugee's.. if the subject was not that serious, this hypocracy could be funny.

  if the female anointed will be co-rulers in heaven with morris and company, why are they not represented as gb members and helpers before armageddon arrives?.

  we have a laid off bethelite with an engineering degree!

  this guy have been at bethel for 25 years when he could have been making 75-100 thousand a year as an engineer.

  so they kick him to the curb so they don't have to house him and his wife anymore.

  they run into a problem at warwick and they ask him to come back for 3 weeks.

  Where do you live?... I have yet to encounter a JW who is an engineer. Accountants only...now these are definitely professionals who overall can't function without rules and procedures. No course that develop critical thinking skills is included in their curriculum.

  Just heard that the WT sent money to help brothers in Russia

  clyde and i had lunch with a friend who attended the assembly with his wife.

  he told us that he was sure he heard that the wt had sent money to russia to help the brothers financially.

  i told him that i heard the opposite....that they are directing witnesses to meet in private homes and set up a donation jar for the sole purpose of sending money to the wt, giving explicit instructions on how to transmit the funds.
